More Liquid courage.

he Lamson Liquid S is a lightweight, pressure‑cast, large‑arbor fly reel with a sealed conical drag and redesigned spool/arbor for faster pickup and cleaner line management.

Core Features:

  • Pressure‑cast aluminum frame and spool with precision machining for tight tolerances.
  • Large arbor + larger overall diameter for faster line pickup and reduced line memory.
  • Sealed conical drag system suitable for both freshwater and saltwater, offering strong stopping power.
  • Redesigned arbor shape for cleaner spooling and improved line handling.
  • Larger, grippier drag knob for easier adjustments on the water.
  • Available colors: Smoke and Daybreak

Performance:

  • The reel has excellent strength‑to‑weight ratio thanks to Lamson’s pocket‑spar frame design.
  • Trident’s review notes the 5+ size weighs 4.75 oz, lighter than many premium reels.
  • Drag strength in the 5+ size is roughly 5–7 lbs, enough for trout and light saltwater duty.
  • Retrieval rate is strong: 8 inches per turn with a 3.37" max spool diameter and 2.3" arbo.

Spool & Compatibility:

  • Liquid S spools fit Remix S and Remix S HD reels (same generation).
  • Not compatible with previous‑generation Liquid or Remix reels.

Sizing Guidance:

Lamson sizes reels for one line weight up or down:
  • Example: 5+ fits 4/5/6 wt lines.
  • If between sizes:
    • Choose smaller for lighter setup.
    • Choose larger for more backing or larger arbor.

Liquid S vs. Liquid S HD:

If comparing:
  • Liquid S: Standard frame, lighter, great all‑around trout reel.
  • Liquid S HD: Full‑frame “heavy duty” version that prevents thin running lines from slipping between frame and spool—ideal for Euro nymphing, Spey, Switch rods

Durability & Materials:

  • Cast aluminum is durable but more prone to scratching/denting than fully machined reels.
  • Polyurethane finish adds extra protection on the case and spool.

Ideal Use in Hancock, NY:

Given your location near the East and West Branches of the Delaware River, the Liquid S is well‑suited for:
  • Trout fishing with 4–6 wt setups
  • Dry fly and nymphing applications
  • Situations requiring quick line pickup during long drifts
