"Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.  I am haunted by waters."

The number one reason you should fish for smallmouth bass with us is because it's just downright fun!

Caught on spin tackle or on a fly rod the smallmouth is, inch for inch and pound for pound, the sportiest fish in freshwater.  As soon as they're hooked a smallmouth lets off with an exciting series of runs and jumps, fighting against the rod and giving the impression that it's a far bigger fish than it is.  From the end of June to the end of October the smallmouth fishing is hot with all day action being the norm rather than the exception.

Delaware River smallmouth can get up to twenty inches or more and weigh four to five pounds, real nice river fish. Now that's not your average bass but it is nice to know they're there.  Striped bass inhabit the same water as smallmouth bass and are sometimes an added bonus.

There's been a lot written on the smallmouth. These books are some that I have found to be the better ones:

Capt. Joe "Joe D." Demalderis travels to Patagonia each February and invites you to join him to experience the wonders and magic of Estancia del Zorro, bringing you another hand selected and personally approved Cross Current fishing adventure. The guides of Zorro have years of experience fishing and exploring the waters near Estancia del Zorro.

The waters you will fish include streams, rivers and spring creeks all located within the 15,000 acre Estancia or just a short drive from the lodge. Many of these waters are seldom fished and some have only recently been discovered, producing diverse fishing opportunities. Here you can experience the challenge of dry fly sight fishing in crystal clear water where fish grow as large as thirty-two inches!

Only two hundred meters from the lodge, the Estancia del Zorro spring creek offers easy walk-in for large heavy brown trout. You will also have the opportunity to explore freestone streams in both Argentina and Chile, two countries in one trip, reached by 30 to 90 minute four wheel drive vehicles from the lodge.

Finally, the Rio Simpson, the crown jewel of dry fly fishing in the Coyhaique region is yours to float just one hour from Zorro. This river is divided into three distinct river types. The gravely runs and pools of the smaller upper river hold large rainbows and browns, the middle section contain long gravel bars where king salmon spawn, and the lower river has long boulder strewn runs that provide some of South America's best match the hatch fishing to large rainbows and browns.

Your trip includes lodging, gourmet meals, transportation to and from Balmaceda, Chile airport, all local

fishing transportation, guides.
